I started painting “Self Portrait as a Landscape” when I graduated from college in 2022. I was unsure what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be. I wanted to capture who I was in that moment, in a self portrait. I knew big changes were happening in my life, so I decided to include the landscapes closest to my heart in a way of grounding me in my roots. Eventually, I realized my plans of painting myself in the landscape were unnecessary. I discovered that by painting elements of these different landscapes that have shaped who I am, illustrating where I come from, I in turn had already painted myself. This is my Self Portrait as a Landscape.
