In “Wavelet”,  I started with layers of intuitive painting. I played around with layers of acrylic paint, even bringing the canvas out in a rain storm to see the water interact with the paint.

And then, I let it sit for a few months. When I came back to it, I realized that it was a perfect undertone for the depths of ocean water. I painted over top with oils to turn it into the painting it is today.

If you look closely, you can still see bits of the intuitive  painting shine through in the translucent shadows.
